Nick Banks

Background
Nick David Banks was born in Rotherham in 1965. He studied at Sheffield's Oakwood Comprehensive. He worked as a wreath maker and belonged to bands such as God, The Vicious Circles and Phono Industria. He's also the nephew of Gordon Banks, a famous English goalie.

Joining Up
He had first seen Pulp play in 1982 in his sixth form year and was blown away by their originality. So when he saw an ad in the paper for a new Pulp drummer (the former drummer, Magnus Doyle had quit due to clashing personalities). On his way to audition, he was followed by an English bull terrier from the bus stop. While he and Jarvis tried to get rid of it, they got to talking and got on well. It was this talk that got Nick into the band, not his drum playing.

Influences
Nick enjoys disco, punk, Jonathon Richman, Jonathon King, Prefab Sprout and Primal Scream. He has also shown hatred for Soft Cell.
